May Book Recap

.May was an audiobook-heavy month for me once a. In fact, all but one of my books were listens. The only physical book I finished in May was one I had actually started back in April and finally crossed off my list.

3 Five Star listens Anatomy of an Alibi by Ashley Elston , The Midnight Bookshop by Amanda James and the last five star for May was The Sweetness of Forgetting by Kristin Harmel. These three books couldn't have been more different from one another, yet each one completely drew me in. Whether it was mystery, magical storytelling, or historical fiction, they all kept me reaching for my headphones and finding excuses to listen just a little longer.

Demi Moores, Inside Out was my memoir/biography for May. Like many celebrity memoirs, it explores the complicated realities behind fame and success. Moore openly shares her struggles with addiction, childhood trauma, relationships, and the difficult path she traveled to become one of Hollywood's biggest stars. While her story is certainly one of survival and resilience, it also serves as a reminder that outward success doesn't always reflect what someone is carrying internally. This one earned a solid 4 stars from me.

My one read that took me literally a month and a half was Our Beautiful Mess by Adele Parks This drew me in knowing that it was a mystery/thriller but I will say it dragged on a bit. Still gave it a four stars.

What continues to crack me up is that I still haven't figured out my reading genre. Every month my favorites seem to come from completely different categories, and honestly, I think that's part of the fun.

As we head into June, my audiobook queue is already growing. I have finished a five star and can’t wait to share it with you next month. With summer garden chores in full swing, there will be plenty of opportunities to listen while weeding, harvesting, and tending toThe Roost.

I’d love to know what was your favorite read this month?

Hey, I’m Jenn, semi-retired military spouse, mom of four and a NYer turned OKie. After 30 years of moving and starting from scratch, my husband, soldier, Dennis and I decided Oklahoma was our last stop. We built our forever home, “The Roost” here in SW Oklahoma.

When I’m not out running, leather working, volunteering or with the chickens, yes, a new thing for me, I’m in the garden. I love to learn and experiment how to grow here in SW Oklahoma. My favorite part is to bring the garden to the table.

I’m so glad you guys are here! We can all learn, share and “Grow” together through this journey.
