June listens~

Well June turned out to be another month of all listening kinda a month. Don't get me wrong—I really did try to finish an actual, physical book. Buuuuuuttttt, if you follow me on social media, you've probably seen my ongoing saga with The Calamity Club by Kathryn Stockett. I have about 20 pages left, and somehow those last few pages have become my biggest reading challenge of the month. Reserved time ran out and it was snatched back.

It even got to the point where I asked friends if anyone had a hard copy I could borrow because, heaven forbid, I actually buy the book for just twenty pages! (Yes, I know how ridiculous that sounds.) For the record, I did try. None of my local libraries that I have a card for have a copy available. Even my Target came up empty. Apparently, the universe has decided those last twenty pages are something I have to earn.

But you are here to see what I did listen to, not complaining. So here is my two five stars for June. Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke and The Pecan Man by Cassie Dandridge Selleck . A lot of folks are up in the air with Yesteryear and the whole “tradwife” label but I really liked the book. The Pecan Man has a bit of To Kill a Mockingbird vibe which to me is a classic that everyone should read.

Next up are the four star listens~

And then the three stars~

So while I wanted June to include one finished physical read, my audiobook streak won again. Honestly, I'm okay with that, audiobooks fit this season of life so well. Whether I'm out in the garden, harvesting vegetables, working around The Roost, or driving from one errand to the next, I can always have a good story playing in the background.

My Libby holds are constantly changing, and my Audible wishlist seems to grow faster than I can listen. July will likely include a mix of historical fiction, suspense, and maybe another memoir if the timing works out.

If you've read something recently that you couldn't put down, I'd love to hear about it. My "Want to Read" list is always growing—and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. July will finally be the month I turn that last page of The Calamity Club, I just ordered the hardcover from Amazon.

I’d love to know, what was your favorite read in June?

Hey, I’m Jenn, semi-retired military spouse, mom of four and a NYer turned OKie. After 30 years of moving and starting from scratch, my husband, soldier, Dennis and I decided Oklahoma was our last stop. We built our forever home, “The Roost” here in SW Oklahoma.

When I’m not out running, leather working, volunteering or with the chickens, yes, a new thing for me, I’m in the garden. I love to learn and experiment how to grow here in SW Oklahoma. My favorite part is to bring the garden to the table.

I’m so glad you guys are here! We can all learn, share and “Grow” together through this journey.
