August Book Recap~
Can I just say how it continues to be HOT here in Oklahoma? So hot!
The garden is officially closed for business, the chickens are just trying to survive with all the frozen watermelon we can give them, and the pups and I are out ruck marching early. If we’re going to get our miles in, we might as well beat the heat!
But even with all that heat, I did manage to get plenty of listening in this month, along with two “actual reads”. So, let’s dive into what kept me company during the dog days of August.
First up my two “actual reads”. These were both fantastic reads, with a 5 and 4 star rating, but two very different genres—which I love! Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys checks the box on my goal of adding more historical fiction to my reading. It was a heartbreaking and powerful story, and definitely one that will stick with me.
Then we have In a Quiet Town, by Amber Garza which takes me right back into the mystery/thriller world that you already know I love.
Two very different books, two very different stories, but I would recommend both of these! So if you’re looking for something to add to your TBR, either one is a good choice.
On to my audio books for August. These were my 4 star ratings. Some funny some deep, some borderline a 4. I did hop on the Rebecca Yarros, fellow military spouse semi retired wagon, just to see what her books were all about. She did not disappoint.
This last group were the 3 stars. They did disappoint , especially since a few are my favorite authors.
You can check out all these book and more from the past months here in my books section. Or join my on Goodreads where I track all my 400+ books I have logged in just to help me keep track on what I already read and my TBR in the future.
I’d love to know, what was your favorite read in August?
